Working with Jonathan Wylder sculptures

Jonathan is passionate about figurative work, and I had someamazing experiences sitting with Jonathan in his studio in Oxfordshire, England surrounded by sculptures and paintingschatting to him about some of his most cherished art work.  We tried to capture some of that in a short video that we took in Jonathan’s studio. It is clear that the relationships formed in creating these pieces with dancers, athletes, actors, models as well as animals form an important part of his distinctive work. Alongside the relationship with the subject, the spontaneity in the posture and movement in the person or animal really standout.  Jonathan is able to do a very small number of sculpturesfor sale alongside some of these well known commissions, making these wonderful collectibles.  The pair of Talbot dogs that you can see from the Belgravia monument, the Mermaidand the Angel Awakening are substantial and distinctive pieces, as are the smaller sized ballet dancers.

One of his sculptures that we have on our MetaMall site is a life sized sculpture called “Tessa” that was carved out of a 2 tonne block of limestone.  Jonathan has noted this as one of his most important works taking approximately 2 years to complete.  There is a video on You Tube of Jonathan making this piece. Tessa was originally sold some years back and we are fortunate to be working with the current owner and Jonathan to bring it back along side other pieces direct from Jonathan’s studio in this launch.

It takes Jonathan a lot of time to produce a sculpture.  An objective in working with Coinllectibles and using DOT and digital technologies is to make his work available to more people across the world to enjoy.  We have posted the short video of Jonathan talking to me in his studio that you can find on Coinllectibles social media. To support engagement we are inviting people to watch the video and learn more about Jonathan’s work and, in answering some questions, be eligible to receive a free POAP token.  POAB stands for proof of attendance protocol and enables people to collect the token and participate in this launch without actually needing to buy a DOT tied to the physical piece.   We are sure that the special sculptures found on our MetaMall will find good owners and also hope that this launch will introduce Jonathan Wylder to more people to learn and enjoy the work of this important artist.
